About Us
The Centennial Valley Tennis Association was formed in late
1994 when two local tennis enthusiasts suspected that Eastern Boulder
County (Colorado) had grown enough to support its own member driven tennis
association. From it's humble beginnings the CVTA has steadily grown
and in 2003 had a membership of over 170 (not including families with
multiple members). Originally founded in Louisville, we now also
represent members in Superior, Lafayette, and Erie. Membership,
however, is not limited to these locations and we also have members from
a number of other area communities including Boulder, Longmont, Broomfield,
and Westminster.
We are a community tennis association and play on public
courts. Besides sponsoring tennis activities,
the CVTA also coordinates tennis activities with local governments and
helps maintain and promote public tennis facilities. (See CVTA
History.)
The CVTA is a member of the United States Tennis Association
(USTA) Intermountain
Section (USTA/IS)
and the Colorado Tennis Association (CTA).
We are a volunteer, member driven, not-for-profit organization
granted 501(c)(7) status by the IRS. A Board
of Directors consisting of 6 to 9 voting members is elected annually
in the fall by the general membership to serve during the following calendar
year. The new board then selects the CVTA's officers for the upcoming
year from it's ranks. CVTA members also serve in various non-board
positions as approved by the board of directors. See
our Bylaws.
